Paper Quilt
CREATIONS

Paper Quilting is:

There are a wide variety of Paper Quilt Creations pattern designs available through our online store. Each pattern gives step by step instructions enabling you to create unique and beautiful greeting cards, pictures for framing or scrapbook pages. A single pattern can be used repeatedly to give many different results. Just copy the Working Template when you receive your pattern. Create soft and pretty, cute and colourful, dark and edgy, elegant and sophisticated or a warm country feel – it’s up to you, your paper choice and your imagination. The designs can also be adapted using the many different Paper Quilting techniques which you can learn from the step-by-step booklet series.

Artist and designer, Michaela Laurie began to create quilts from her vast collection of paper in 2004. It evolved from her work using paper in mixed media and collage pictures and her interest in sewing. To say that Michaela loves paper is an understatement. “I adore it in all its forms - its texture, even its smell” she says with a smile.

After several years of developing techniques and making Paper Quilts, I set up a stall at The Old Bus Depot Market in Canberra, Australia. Customers and visitors started asking if there was a book or instructions for my quilts. I was very surprised to discover that no one else seemed to be using the techniques I had developed. I began teaching at A White Dragon Papercraft shop and developed a template system for creating Paper Quilts. This made it possible for anyone to easily and quickly create the quilts I was creating and selling.

In 2010 I took a booth at The Craft and Hobby Association Show in the USA, the largest craft show in the world. Paper Quilt Creations was nominated in the top 20 Innovations in the world. In 2011 Paper Quilt Creations was contracted to the McCall Pattern Company USA who printed, marketed and distributed a selection of my patterns worldwide until 2013. I continue to design and print patterns under the Paper Quilt Creations design label and now have over 50 beautiful designs for you to choose from. Look out for my step-by-step technique booklets this year.

My aim is to create truly timeless Paper Quilt pattern designs. My designs are so easily adapted to all todays, and tomorrows’ trends. You can use papers or fabrics from your favourite design houses along with all the beautiful embellishments and creation tools to create your very own unique piece of craft art. Bring out your collections of papers and embellishments saved from previous craft projects and use them in a totally new way.

So why not combine a love of paper with all the joys of simple sewing and create a Paper Quilt today.

Happy Paper Quilting, Michaela
